The jockey truck operator training will provide training on control systems, vehicle inspection, basic control, backing, visibility, communication, and space management as well as offer hands-on practice on a jockey truck.

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.                                                                                                           Frequently Asked Questions           30-Hour Classroom Instruction The 30-hour classroom instruction is now available in-person. This lecture component consists of instruction on the following topics: Managing Risk When Driving Understanding Vehicle Space Needs, Natural Laws, and Balance Starting, Steering, and Stopping the Vehicle Traffic Control Devices & Traffic Laws Managing Risk: Vision & Perception, Time & Space Sharing the Road with Others Getting Acquainted with the Vehicle You Will Drive The Effects of Distractions, Drowsiness, and Emotions on Driving Adverse Driving Conditions and Emergencies The Effects of Alcohol and Other Drugs on Driving Basic Maneuvers in a Low-Risk Environment Course Textbook: “How to Drive” -The Beginning Driver’s Manual           What To Expect In The Behind-The-Wheel Driving Lessons The Driver’s Ed Car The college will provide a vehicle for students to use during their lessons. They are 2015 Kia Optimas, a 4-door sedan. Each vehicle is wrapped in “Student Driver” graphics to make other drivers aware that training is in progress.  The vehicles are equipped with video monitoring capabilities to ensure the safety of all participants.   6-Hour Driving Lessons Behind-the-wheel driver training lessons are available via one-on-one appointments and are 2 hours long. The Department of Driver Services requires that parents/guardians invest at least 40 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice with their teens before taking their road test to get their license. Training Lesson 1:  The instructor will take the student to begin verifying the skills listed above are satisfactory and then start practice with parallel parking, turnabouts, and a very structured driving route to provide exposure ranging from light traffic to moderate traffic. Training Lesson 2: When students arrive for the second lesson, they can expect longer exposure to moderate traffic and an introduction to parkways and highways and apply what was learned during lesson two. Training Lesson 3: The final training will include a review of the previous lessons, more prolonged exposure to moderate traffic, and an introduction to interstate driving. Note: Students will be practicing entering and exiting off Interstate 16. Practice with a parent/guardian before this lesson is recommended. Our focus is to assist your student with the more difficult driving skills since our program only provides 6-hours of behind-the-wheel training. By the time your student reaches their first behind-the-wheel training session with the college, they will need to be able to complete the following skills:   Basic driver preparation   Steering   Accelerating and slowing down smoothly   Turning right at intersections             Turning left at intersections   Download the DDS 40-HR Parent/Teen Driving Guide         Cost & Payment Options Cost: $400 ( Includes 30hrs Classroom & 6hrs Behind-the-whee l). Scholarships for (the Drivers Ed program only) are only available to those who qualify click here for more information.   If you are applying for a scholarship, please do not register until your acceptance/denial email is received.  Scholarship information is provided in the link above.    Refund Policy You can request a refund up to three (3) days before the start of a course via email at continuinged@savannahtech.edu . If it is past the three-day window, the only option available is to transfer to a new session. Once a course begins a refund is no longer available.   Q: If a student is approved for the scholarship, but the parent already paid for the driver’s education course, can they be reimbursed? A: The scholarship must be awarded before the start date of the driver’s education course. The certification verifies that a food handler has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. Individuals that successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Handler Certification and wallet card. The ServSafe Handler Certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards During the course, covers critical principles including: Personal hygiene Cross contamination and Allergens Time and temperature Cleaning and Sanitation Basic food safety   ServSafe Food Manager Course Description The ServSafe Food Manager course is a 10-Hour class. The certification verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. Individuals that successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Manager Certification and wallet card. The ServSafe Manager Certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards During the course, covers critical principles including: Personal hygiene Cross contamination Time and temperature Receiving and storage Food safety management systems Training hourly employees and more Successful completion of the ServSafe Food Manager exam with a score of 75% or higher will lead to a ServSafe Food Manager certification issued by the National Restaurant Association .

Students will earn credentials in: OSHA 10 - Bennett Mechanical Comprehension - First Aid - Six Sigma White Belt - Forklift Safety - SACA Pneumatics Systems Fast Track to Manufacturing is a hybrid course, and includes self-paced online modules as well as structured classroom meetings. The self-paced modules emphasize valued soft-skills that are designed to enhance students’ employability through a focus on workplace communication, teamwork, resumé-building, and interviewing. Classroom meetings will offer students a hands-on approach through virtual reality simulations of job tasks common in manufacturing and warehouse settings.
- [Course 0007: Phlebotomy Technician](https://ce.savannahtech.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1016907): Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis.  Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.   NWCA National Certification :  This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam. National Certification :   Students who complete this program will have the opportunity to pursue the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam. Clinical Externship : This program includes a 40 hour clinical externship opportunity. To be eligible for the clinical, students must successfully complete the 90 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements
- [Course 0008: Fast Track CMA (Certified Medical Assistant)](https://ce.savannahtech.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1016909): This course prepares students with rigorous classroom training and practice as well as the clinical experiences to perform a full range of patient care duties or services under nursing or medical direction. Students who successfully complete this course may be eligible to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment program (NNAAP) which determines competency to become enrolled in the State’s Nurse Aide Registry. Students will then be a qualified certified nursing assistant, an important position in any hospital setting and an integral part of the patient process in healthcare. The self-paced modules allow students to complete the course in a hybrid format. Classroom meetings offer students hands-on experience in the duties required for certification. Clinicals give students valuable real-world experience in a hospital or nursing home.

- [Course 0010: Heroes Make America Fast Track Logistics](https://ce.savannahtech.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1017448): Savannah Tech’s Fast Track Logistics training program through a partnership with Heroes Make America and STC’s Economic Development continuing education division. Students spend eight weeks learning about the logistics industry, including an overview of global supply chain, logistics, material handling, quality control principles, workplace communications, safety, and equipment operation. Participants earned certifications in forklift safety training, OSHA 30 for general industry, and two nationally recognized credentials – Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC). The core competencies as defined by MSSC, cover nationally validated skills standards for higher skilled, frontline material handling workers across all supply chain facilities: factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters. Heroes MAKE America is The Manufacturing Institute’s initiative to build connections between the military community and the manufacturing industry. Its signature program, a DoD-approved SkillBridge, provides transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard, reservists and military spouses with the skills and certifications to find and excel in manufacturing careers. Heroes MAKE America offers in-person training at Ft. Riley, KS; Ft. Cavazos, TX; Ft. Liberty, NC; Ft. Stewart, GA and a 100% Virtual training option.

The certification is supported by the START (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training) for Kitchen Cook. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion course will provide participants with the tools to recognize social biases, respond to microaggressions, as well as provide resources to create a safe and welcoming work environment. - [Course 0020: Coastal Georgia Center for Driver Safety](https://ce.savannahtech.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1069768): The Driver Safety program builds on Savannah Technical College’s stellar driver’s education program and utilize grant funding from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in order to create two core additional services: distracted driver education, and alcohol-impaired driving prevention. These services will integrate both college’s community offerings and strategic community partnerships to provide greater access, and sustainability, and improve safety for decades to come.  This grant will serve youth, young adults, and parents in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties. The program will work with individual high schools to provide programming that’s appropriate for the school’s calendar of activities and campus life. During the 2021 grant year, the college will focus its efforts on 10th graders since they are adjusted to high school life and are more likely to be driving or obtaining a driver’s license than 9th graders. It will address the specific problems of distracted driving – particularly cell phone use and alcohol consumption while driving. Local data indicates an alarming negative trend in fatalities

Their primary role is to position trailers at loading docks for drivers arriving or departing, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of logistics operations within the facility. - [Course 0049: Private Pilot Ground School](https://ce.savannahtech.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1750760): The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for the certification of every pilot from the initial private level all the way to the airline transport category and as such requires a three pronged approach in the form of a knowledge test, an oral exam, and a practical check ride before granting any individual a pilot license.  Within this course students will have a thorough understanding of the science, theory, history, and regulations pertaining to flight which is not only critical, but necessary for anyone who seeks to fly whether as a hobby or pursuing a lifelong career in aviation. At the conclusion of the course, students will take a mock Private Pilot Knowledge Exam to evaluate how well they learned the subject matter discussed in the class.  Students who score 80% or higher are encouraged to continue studying until they can score at least 85% or higher on three consecutive mock exams available from the ASA Test Prep Booklet provided in the course material.  Successful completion of this course, along with instructor endorsement, will authorize the student to take the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge examination.  However, at any time students can begin actual flight training with Savannah Aviation or any flight school of their choosing so long as the FAA Knowledge Exam is completed prior to the student’s final oral and practical examination.

Participants will learn both the copper foil and lead came techniques while gaining experience using the tools and materials needed to create beautiful stained-glass artwork. Instruction includes selecting, preparing, and cutting stained glass, wrapping glass pieces with thin copper foil, and assembling projects using both copper foil and lead came construction methods. Participants will also learn how to solder and fuse the glass pieces together to complete a finished design. All tools and materials are provided. The workshop fee is $250 per person , and all skill levels are welcome. Participants must attend both days of the workshop and will leave with a completed stained-glass piece to take home. The workshop meets for 8 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday in STC's Historic Preservation Lab (5717 White Bluff Road, Savannah, GA 31405).
