Here is a list of frequently asked questions about Driver's Education at Savannah Technical College

What is your refund policy? You can request a refund up to three (3) days before the start of a course via email at continuinged@savannahtech.edu. If it is past the three-day window, the only option available is to transfer to a new session. Once a course begins a refund is no longer available.

How do I redeem my GDEC Scholarship? Students who are awarded the GDEC Scholarship should list their 6 digit scholarship redemption code on their application when applying to the Savannah Tech course.

Can I redeem my GDEC scholarship if my session has already started? No, students must provide their scholarship redemption code before the session begins. Payment/Scholarship submission deadlines are listed for each session.

What is the attendance policy? Attendance is required for all classroom and behind-the-wheel driving lessons. If you have schedule conflicts, we recommend waiting until a later session.

When will my student drive? Driving is NOT completed during the scheduled class dates. After completing the classroom instruction and passing the exam with at least a 70% passing grade, students will be contacted by the driving instructors to schedule a behind-the-wheel driving instruction. Typically, students are able to schedule drive time for nights and weekends.

Can a parent ride in the car with their student and the instructor? No, at this time, parents are not allowed to ride in the Driver's Education cars.

Can students complete this program if they have never been behind the wheel? Yes and no. Students can complete the classroom portion without experience, but we highly recommend that students practice basic driving concepts with their parent, guardian, or trusted adult. Our driving instructors only have 6 hours available to each student, so students are much more successful with the driving portion of the course if they have previous experience behind the wheel.

What if I only want Behind-the-wheel driving training? Can I take that with you and for how much? This course is only offered with both the classroom training and the behind-the-wheel training together. Those interested in receiving driving lessons must enroll in the whole course.

Does this course include the eADAP program? No, most teens are able to do it through their high school. Georgia teens that are unable to complete the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) through their high school now have the option of completing the program online, 24/7/365! This is especially great news for Georgia teens that are home-schooled or were absent from school when the traditional ADAP course was offered.
