9002 - OSHA 30-Hour General Industry

Course Description

This training program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention.

Course Outline

1) Introduction to OSHA; 2) Managing Safety and Health; 3) Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection; 4) Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection; Electrical; 5) Personal Protective Equipment; 6) Materials Handling; 7) Hazard Communication; 8) and Elective that comprises ten hours of training that cover at least five of the following topics: Hazardous Materials; Permit-Required Confined Spaces; Lockout/Tagout; Machine Guarding; Welding, Cutting, and Brazing; Introduction to Industrial Hygiene; Bloodborne Pathogens; Ergonomics; Fall Protection; Safety and Health Programs; and / or Powered Industrial Vehicles.

Learner Outcomes

The primary learning outcome of the OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course is to equip supervisors, managers, and safety personnel with advanced safety awareness and in-depth knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 standards to recognize, avoid, abate, and prevent workplace hazards. Upon completing this 30-hour program, participants will be able to: 1) Navigate OSHA Regulations: Explain worker rights, employer responsibilities, and proper procedures for filing complaints or handling inspections. 2) Identify and Control Hazards: Recognize major physical and health hazards common to manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, and factory settings. 3) Implement Safety Management: Design or improve effective workplace safety and health programs, manage incident reporting, and maintain required logs. 4) Select Proper Protections: Determine appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and engineering controls for specific chemical, biological, and physical exposures.
